Millie is a real customer who wants to compare the price of a complete set consisting of a wooden table, a chair, a single bed, a bed mattress, a bedspread, and a pillow. Millie's task is not just to look at the screen; she wants to take this information and the total cost with her and compare it with other stores. If the designer doesn't understand Millie's need to "make information portable," the system, no matter how fast its database, is utterly useless to Millie. Directly engaging with real users, observing them in their work environments (Contextual Inquiry), and getting feedback on prototypes before a single line of code is written are the only ways to satisfy Mary Harts and increase conversion rates.

1. Visibility of System Status

9. Help Users Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors

10. Help and Documentation
